Succession Planning and Governance Training for the Michigan Public Transit Association
Nonprofit Nav will partner with the Michigan Public Transit Association to deliver targeted training sessions at its Rural Transit Managers Workshop focused on succession planning and governance. As rural transit systems across Michigan navigate leadership transitions, workforce constraints, and evolving regulatory expectations, proactive leadership continuity planning is essential.
During this workshop engagement, Nonprofit Nav will provide practical, field-informed guidance on executive succession planning, board and management roles, governance structures, and continuity risk mitigation. Participants will gain frameworks to identify leadership vulnerabilities, develop transition plans, clarify oversight responsibilities, and align governance practices with long-term organizational sustainability.
The sessions will be tailored to the realities of rural transit agencies, where small teams, public funding accountability, and community visibility heighten the importance of strong governance. Managers and board leaders will leave with actionable tools to strengthen leadership pipelines, protect institutional knowledge, and support smooth transitions without operational disruption.
By integrating succession planning with governance best practices, this training will equip Michigan’s rural transit leaders to sustain service delivery, maintain public trust, and ensure continuity in communities that rely heavily on accessible transportation.
